Spongebob is Headed to the Big Screen in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run
Y’all are probably tired of hearing about all the stuff I did last week at The Geekly Retreat, but oh well! Right after we got a glimpse at the new Sonic trailer we got to see the trailer for The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. First. Before everyone else. But I was sworn to secrecy. Sorry, not sorry!
Spongebob and friends are headed to the big screen in a new movie entitled The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. I’m going to let you guys check the trailer out before I give you my opinion.
About The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run
This Memorial Day weekend, SpongeBob SquarePants, his best friend Patrick Star and the rest of the gang from Bikini Bottom hit the big screen in the first-ever all CGI SpongeBob motion picture event. After SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary is snail-napped, he and Patrick embark on an epic adventure to The Lost City of Atlantic City to bring Gary home. As they navigate the delights and dangers on this perilous and hilarious rescue mission, SpongeBob and his pals prove there’s nothing stronger than the power of friendship.
My Thoughts on the Trailer
I didn’t know how to feel when I first saw the trailer. I grew up on Spongebob so the nostalgia feelings were strong! But, animation is so different nowadays! I’m used to the Nickelodeon Spongebob. I even watch it with RJ sometimes. So when I saw the trailer it was just another reminder of how far things like animation has come.
As far as the storyline, I was so sad that Gary is missing! #SaveGary. It’s going to be interesting see them go on a journey to find him. AND ISN’T YOUNG SPONGEBOB SO CUTE?! If you’re a fan like I am then I am sure you’ve always wondered how Spongebob and Gary met. So I think it was adorable that they included that in the trailer. I definitely laughed alot and I nearly screamed when I saw Keanu as Sage! I couldn’t think of anybody more perfect that Mr. John Wick himself in this movie. TOO FUNNY.
All in all, I think the Spongebob Movie is going to be on that parents and kids will both enjoy. I’m excited to see Spongebob and Patrick take on Bikini Bottom (and Atlantic City) like never before! Will you be headed to see this in theater?
The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run opens in theaters everywhere, May 22nd 2020!
