Frozen 2 is an Epic Love Story in More Ways Than One

Sharing is caring!

In between walking the red carpet at the world premiere and the magical after party, we got to be some of the first to see Frozen 2. Elsa is my girl, and after seeing trailers all year I was more than ready to see how these sisters were going to shake up Arendelle. I think the general consensus from most people has been that the trailers for Frozen 2 make the movie seem extremely dark. And while I think Frozen 2 definitely visited some more mature themes than the first, the movie for the most part is still friendly enough for the smaller little ones. Before I get into my Frozen 2 review, check out the full trailer below:

About Frozen 2

Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough. From the Academy Award®- winning team—directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, producer Peter Del Vecho and songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez—and featuring the voices of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen 2” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 22, 2019.

Did Frozen 2 Turn Out to Be an Epic Sequel?

Short answer, yes. Without giving away any spoilers Frozen 2 turns out to be an epically adventurous sequel to the first movie. It is in some ways a love letter to Arendelle. We also explore the themes of self love and staying true to oneself. The amazing bond between sisters. The budding relationship between friends like Kristoff and Elsa, and Olaf and Sven. And of course we get to see where Anna and Kristoff’s story leads. That love turns out to be more beautiful than ever, but I’ll be speaking on that later. Olaf continues to steal the show in the sequel. He is in a lot of ways more grown up. He’s asking all the questions and realizing the world is a little more different than he imagined it to be. All of the characters evolution is shown in beautiful ways and it was fun to follow along.

FROZEN 2 – In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen 2, Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven journey far beyond the gates of Arendelle in search of answers. Will You Be Able to Let Go of “Let it Go”?

Eh, maybe. I personally love Idina Menzel and Into the Unknown is a beautiful song. But I don’t feel like it’s the most memorable song of the movie. I love the message in Elsa’s other big musical number “Show Yourself”. Olaf continues to make us giggle with his new musical number. AND, there is a musical piece by someone in the movie that you are NOT going to expect. I am convinced that they added that in there just for us moms.

If I Had to Use One Word to Describe Frozen 2

During the press conference for Frozen 2 the cast was asked to give one word to describe the movie. They chose words like love, music, adventure, epic, sisters etc. If I had to use one word to describe the movie? LOADED. I feel like this sequel was heavy and there was a lot to digest. Though at the press conference Kristen Bell mentioned how we don’t give our children credit for being able to digest heavier themes, I feel like there was A LOT to understand. Even as an adult.

Though Frozen is adventurous and epic and fun and musical, I wonder if the audience it was made for, will completely understand just how much is going on in this movie. I guess this is where our job as parents come in to explain the deeper things to our children. But there is a part of me that feels like I shouldn’t have to think THIS HARD for a kids movie. You will be happy to know though, that the movie is NOT dark. Not in the ways that the trailer makes it feel. And if for nothing but the adventure, it is a must watch this holiday season.

Trusted reindeer Sven and curious snowman Olaf (voice of Josh Gad) are up for an adventure in “Frozen 2.” They join Kristoff, Anna and Elsa on a journey into the unknown in search of answers about the past. [10 MONTHS OLD] Time be still 😩😭😭 Briell [10 MONTHS OLD]

Time be still 😩😭😭
Brielle is growing so fast and I just want her to stay a baby a little longer.

- This girl stands on her own and takes a few steps unassisted.
- Wants to eat and drink EVERYTHING.
- Thinks her brothers are hilarious.
- Says mama, dada, go, and “hey girl” 🤣 and I’m almost certain she tells her brothers to stop though the don’t listen.
- Loves taking pictures but doesn’t like when you try to sneak record her and she sees lol
- Likes to dance and clap her hands. And she recognizes songs. We Don’t Talk About Bruno and the Bluey theme song are her faves lol

I can’t believe she turns one in two months. Time is a thief 😭😭 #itsbriellemadison #mamasgirl #girlmom #momtoaprincess #momof3

Smiling because I know I’m doing the work to help create a better tomorrow for all children! #ad by supporting @PCAAmerica.

Prevent Child Abuse America has been building better childhoods for 50 years now! The stress of parenting in normal times feels like a lot. Over the course of everything happening the last two years, the weight can almost feel unbearable. This is why I’m so glad to have the opportunity to provide resources to my community to help do the work to prevent childhood abuse and neglect before it starts. This is a cause I feel super connected to and I can’t wait to share a little more about why this partnership means so much to me. Until then, I have my blue on in honor of #wearblueday2022 and the start of Child Abuse Prevention Month! #GrowingBetterTogether
