The Best Indoor Waterparks, Amusement Parks & Fun Zones near NYC

With mid-winter break rolling around and NYC weather being true to form, indoor activities are high on many people’s search list. You don’t have to wait until the weather warms up to enjoy amusement, waterparks and the tons of play areas that are right outside (or in) the city. Check out this list below for some ideas on indoor fun near NYC.

American Dream

At over 3 million square feet, attractions open now at American Dream include the fully-enclosed Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park, Big SNOW American Dream – North America’s only indoor snow park, and The Rink – an NHL-regulation sized ice rink.

American Dream is less than an hour from NYC.

The Kartrite Resort

It is always in the 80s at New Yorks largest indoor waterpark. The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark is thus far our favorite indoor waterpark location. On top of the waterpark they have an arcade, bowling, an indoor ropes and zipline course and countless activities in their calendar for the whole family! You can easily spend a few days at the Kartrite without wanting to leave.

The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark is about 2 hours from NYC.

Launch Trampoline Park

Up until last year, to travel to Launch Trampoline Park you had to leave the 5 boroughs. However in 2019 Launch opened their first Queens location and it was exactly what the city needed! We go here for Toddler Time, afterschool and days off. They have staggered jump times so it’s never TOO crowded and they have separate jumping areas for little ones. It’s become a family favorite.

Launch Trampoline Park is located in Queens, NY.

We haven’t been to shipwrecked yet, but the reviews on Yelp are amazing. My 5 year old thinks he’s Tiger Woods. So if miniature golf is your thing, this indoor option seems like a ton of fun. AND it’s pirate themed down to the layout. Who can resist a good theme?

Shipwrecked is located in Brooklyn, NY.

Laser Bounce

Laser Bounce is an arcade, bounce house, laser tag arena that we honestly discovered by going to their long island location as adults to play laser tag. They do have a location in Queens now and frequently run specials. With mid-winter break coming up I’m sure they will have extended hours as well!

Laser Bounce is located in Queens, NY.

In addition to the list above, there are a ton of places spaces for toddlers, childrens musuems and activity centers within the city. If you are looking for something to do on a rainy day, check out this post full of ideas. What is your favorite place to go for indoor fun near NYC? Do you prefer indoor or outdoor place spaces?

How To Handle Your Child’s Anxiety at Disney World

The most magical place on earth does not come without stress. We just came back from a trip to Disney in October and I slowly realized that we had to go about navigating our trips a little differently. While neither of my boys have been diagnosed with anxiety by a doctor, they do have anxious tendencies. Going into that situation completely unprepared can make for a stressful situation for both parent and child. If you are planning a trip to the parks, here is some useful information on how to handle anxiety at Disney World.

You probably already know this but my family LOVES the waterpark. My children think they can swim (should probably enroll them in some lessons) and they take any opportunity they can to get in the waterpark. When it comes to birthdays, we haven’t done a party since RJ turned 2. We love to travel and my kids love new experiences. They honestly are happy just being in a hotel but we try to give them experiences that will create tons of memories. So when the Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark opened up earlier this year, we knew we had to get there. And let me tell you, birthdays are an absolutely amazing time to do it! The Best Pumpkin Patches In And Around NYC

It’s no secret that fall is the absolute best season, don’t debate me. The weather is often perfect, and it is the beginning of holiday fun. When I was a kid we went pumpkin and apple picking in school. We did hay rides and corn mazes and I looked forward to the start of the holiday season. Do they even do that in school anymore? I only have a kindergartener so I could just be unaware but I haven’t heard any pumpkin or apple talk from any of the children that I know that are older. The child in me still loves these activities and I take the boys to the pumpkin patch EVERY year. It’s a tradition I’m not willing to let go of. So of course I scouted out my favorite pumpkin patches near NYC, and I can’t keep the goods to myself.
