Tom and Jerry is Family Fun Made for Theaters!
I have been waiting to tell you everything I thought about the new Tom and Jerry movie after we had the opportunity to screen the movie early thanks to Warner Bros. When I first watched the official trailer, I was definitely a skeptic. Check out the official trailer below before I tell you why I think Tom and Jerry is worth a trip to the theater (if you can).
About the Movie
A legendary rivalry reemerges when Jerry moves into New York City’s finest hotel on the eve of the wedding of the century, forcing the desperate event planner to hire Tom to get rid of him. As mayhem ensues, the escalating cat-and-mouse battle soon threatens to destroy her career, the wedding, and possibly the hotel itself.
Why Tom and Jerry is Worth the Watch
I’m honestly always worried about movie remakes. I was even more worried because Tom and Jerry is a CLASSIC. The boys watch the cartoon on tv and love it so we all went into this screening with HIGH expectations. It was a really fun spin on the classic, without it straying too far. I’d really recommend seeing it in theaters. The live action, big screen and mischief made it the fun experience my family has needed!
- Typical Tom and Jerry action. Even with this being a live-action movie, the Tom and Jerry shenanigans were in full effect! There were moments in the movie that filled me with nostalgia and filled the kids with laughter. The antics were definitely not lacking.
- The music was amazing. When we got a chance to interview director Tim Story, one of the other content creators asked him about his intentionality with choosing the songs he did for the movie. I loved the soundtrack, and the songs added to the nostalgic factor without making it feel like we were trying to be forced too far back into time.
- New York, New York. I of course loved that the film was set in the big apple. While we’re used to Tom and Jerry’s main location of mischief being their home, this movie took them all over the city. It was fun seeing them on such a bigger scale.
Will My Kids Enjoy Tom and Jerry?
My children laughed NON-STOP during the movie. Even though we saw it early, we actually went to the movie theater again and watched and it was even more amazing for them. The movie run time is set at 1 hour and 41 minutes but it didn’t feel long. My youngest (3) did seem to get restless a few times when there wasn’t any “action” happening, but he made it through and at the end he said he loved the movie!
Tom and Jerry is now playing in select theaters and streaming on HBO Max. Are you a Tom and Jerry fan? Will you head into the theater for this?
