15 Black Mommy Bloggers You Should Be Following on Instagram

image via @tanaymichele

An article was released recently on TimeOut of the “The Best Instagram Accounts from Dad and Mommy bloggers to follow in 2019”. It was shared in a group of other bloggers that I’m in and before I even clicked it I already knew what the list was going to look like. We can make excuses and say “well they only featured 8 accounts” or “they couldn’t show everybody” and that’s fine if that’s what y’all have time for, but I don’t. In this great year of our lord and savior 2019, we have to stop asking for a seat at the table and buy, assemble and elevate our own! TimeOut’s list was cute, but that’s not my list. That’s not representative of the faces I see when I scroll my feed, and the women/men that motivate me.

We’re out here world schooling, and attachment parenting and living our best green lives just like everyone else. If anything we look up to each other even more now because our generation is parenting SO DIFFERENTLY than the ones that came before us. We’re open to learning and doing and growing. We’re just out here trying to keep out chakras aligned, glow up, create healthy coparenting relationships and manifest the best lives possible for our children.

So bump that other list that you may or may not have read. Here’s a list of the black mommy bloggers you should be following on Instagram in 2019:

Merry Christmas from my family to yours!!! . This time leading up to Christmas has been quite a time. I became an official dance mom. Mini danced her first #UrbanNutcracker with @ballethnic. . And no matter how hard I tried to fight the backstage germs, your girl is down with a slight cold. Thanks to my friends at @rcherbals I’ve got everything I need to fight it. . I’m super excited about our new tradition of opening jammies & slippers (check out BC’s feet!) Christmas Eve—do you guys have traditions? . But most of all, I’m thankful for you all this holiday season. Thanks for loving on me and mine during our tough times and celebrating our wins. ❌⭕️❌⭕️

4/25 ✨ It’s truly not Christmas in NY till you manage to walk down 5th ave smooshed together on a chilly Saturday night amongst tourists and locals alike, just to catch a glimpse of the always gorgeous tree at Rockefeller. This is as close as we dared to get before losing patience & jumping on the train. Even in the distance those sparklin LIGHTS make any moment magical. I’m thinking this pic will be this year’s Happy New Year Card ! I never send Christmas cards out on time. ✨Does your city have a must visit spot for the holidays? #eyecandyholidaychallenge . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #rockefellercenter #santa #december #dadlife #weekendvibes #mamalife #nyclife #christmastree #nyc #melaninmagic #blacklove #nycmoms #nyckids #blackmomsblog #writeyouonmyheart #blackboyjoy #joyfulmama #mightydreamers #pursuepretty #storytellingmama #blackfamilies #letthembelittle #momblogger #photographychallenge

Confession: Since becoming a mom of 3 I’ve been winging it. Having three kids means that you have to mom on a different level—some days are amazing, others not so much. 😩 Most days I’m quite sleep deprived because…newborn…and what brain cells I have left I am using for 4th and 2nd grade homework assistance, Or cooking dinner and lunches, or my latest project “tidying up” my embarrassingly large amount of clothing. 👀 Through it all though, I am so so blessed, even though I am quite the hot mess. 🤣😭 If this sweater feels like you too, you can get it from the @lifeofmomofficial shop at http://lifeofmomshop.com! (Full Disclosure: the owner of Life of Mom is one of my favorite humans on the planet, so go check out her shop!) Do you have any Tuesday confessions??

This girl is pure joy ✨ 90% of the time but like any baby, she gets fussy too! That’s when I have to pull out my mama magic. 💫 #ad I partnered with my go-to store, @bjswholesale to share that magic — five ways to calm a fussy baby on the blog. If you guessed that baths 🛁 and massages are on the list, you’re correct. I’m really picky about the products I use on her delicate skin so I’m happy I can find Johnson’s reformulated baby products especially Cotton Touch, Babyganics, and Mustela bath sets. If you haven’t smelled an infant fresh out of a Mustela bubble bath, you haven’t lived. We’re all trying to beat the clock before Christmas so take advantage of @bjswholesale FREE same day delivery 📦 🚚 on orders over $35 until Christmas Eve 12/24, just use the code ‘bjsholiday’. #BJsSmartSaver

🎊🎉Happy New Year Fam🎉🎊 *better late than never right! Lol Starting this year with the word – “Success” . I believe in speaking things into existence, so I’m claiming Success in 2019 🙋🏾‍♀️🙌🏾. • What’s your word for 2019? Pro Tip: These kids have been to so many countries, and one of their favorite memories was playing at this waterfront park in San Diego 🤣. When traveling, remember that your level of exciting is way different from your kids. Kids are so easy to please 💜. Don’t crack your brain too much or over plan when planning a trip. Sometimes a whole day at the park for Free can be the highlight of your entire trip, not the $200 excurison you paid for. • . PS: I forced them to smile for this photo. I’m sure you can clearly see on their faces that they wanted to go play 😂😂😂. . • Shoes @goplae Kids Outfits @aveebelle_ . . #TheMOMTrotter #2019goals #sandiego

Oh hello! Nice to meet you! Since it’s Friday, and I have some new friends here on Instagram thanks to a quick Instagram Live I did with a certain Uncle Gary, I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Amiyrah, and I’ve been a blogger for 11 years. I’m an award winning content creator, and I’ve been featured on @goodmorningamerica, @tyrabanks’ FABLife Show, @womansworldmag, CNN, and other major publications. I’ve also been in Target and Disney commercials, mostly because my kids are cute. Ha! My passion and purpose is to teach families how to have fun on a dime, be a baller on a budget, and live a full life on less. I’m a BIG Disney and #StarWars fan, have an obsession with Christmas, and choose to smile whenever possible. Smiling‘s my favorite. I hope you’ll stick around to see what time and money-saving tips I’ll share, and what adventure I’m on at the moment. #FridayIntroductions #firstinline #askgaryvee #fridayfun #blackmodels #frugalliving #disneyMP #frugalblogger #fashionblogger #familyblogger

I’ve been kind of sick for the last week. A back-end of the throat, eyes itchy, body tired, is it stomach? is it a headache? And within all of that, I have been going back and forth on whether to share unpublished photographs from my book because it would be too celebratory? I need to quiet myself, remember. Remember your place, LaTonya, a voice says. But as we entered the new year, two women that I follow (@smashfizzle and @alisoneroman) simultaneously shared in their stories that THIS was the time they would celebrate themselves. And I nodded my head on the other side of the screen in agreement. And with that, I mulled it over. “If not now, when?” I’ll be 30 in six months, and my promise to myself for rest of the year is to not feel sad that I am not currently in the trenches of a traumatic situation (though always working towards healing). My promise to myself is to celebrate myself, because this shit is hard. So so hard. Do you know what the average writer makes? Do you know the statistics of published women writers of color? And so over the next two months as we countdown to its April 2nd release I’ll share an unpublished photo from Woman Of Color on the 2nd of the month (Feb +March). If I don’t celebrate myself, who will? And if not now, when? And I ask the same of you. Support one another! Support yourself! Make room for joy. If not now, when? . (This photo did not make it into the book, but of course it’s a favorite | PC: @beewalker_ CD: LaTonya Yvette| You can pre-order your book via the link in my profile) #WocTheBook

I never would have imagined how close Ayva and James would be. They love each other so much! The two of them play together, are always laughing, and really just have tons of fun. Of course, when you love someone, you want to share everything with them. Between all of the hugs and kisses these two exchange, I have to make sure I keep them both healthy or I’ll have double trouble to deal with! These two are a pretty great team and my job is to support them however I can. That includes helping to protect their health by getting them to their well visits and making sure they have their immunizations on time. Oh, and taking lots of pictures to help them remember how much they love each other years from now when they’re bickering about something silly! A little bit of chaos and a lot of love is how I’d sum things up in our new place right now. I’ve succumbed to the fact that it’s going to be a while before we have everything unpacked, and even more so before it’s set up how we like it. But I am so grateful that we were able to begin a new year in our new home together. Even if we have been surrounded by boxes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How many of you have goals to get more organized for the new year? 🙋🏾‍♀️ I wrote a more on the blog about my plans to set up a command center and trying to keep calm through the transition including tips from @rachelorganizes.
