With mid-winter break rolling around and NYC weather being true to form, indoor activities are high on many people’s search list. You don’t have to wait until the weather warms up to enjoy amusement, waterparks and the tons of play areas that are right outside (or in) the city. Check out this list below for some ideas on indoor fun near NYC.
American Dream
At over 3 million square feet, attractions open now at American Dream include the fully-enclosed Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park, Big SNOW American Dream – North America’s only indoor snow park, and The Rink – an NHL-regulation sized ice rink.
American Dream is less than an hour from NYC.
The Kartrite Resort
It is always in the 80s at New Yorks largest indoor waterpark. The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark is thus far our favorite indoor waterpark location. On top of the waterpark they have an arcade, bowling, an indoor ropes and zipline course and countless activities in their calendar for the whole family! You can easily spend a few days at the Kartrite without wanting to leave.
The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark is about 2 hours from NYC.
Launch Trampoline Park
Up until last year, to travel to Launch Trampoline Park you had to leave the 5 boroughs. However in 2019 Launch opened their first Queens location and it was exactly what the city needed! We go here for Toddler Time, afterschool and days off. They have staggered jump times so it’s never TOO crowded and they have separate jumping areas for little ones. It’s become a family favorite.
Launch Trampoline Park is located in Queens, NY.
Shipwrecked
We haven’t been to shipwrecked yet, but the reviews on Yelp are amazing. My 5 year old thinks he’s Tiger Woods. So if miniature golf is your thing, this indoor option seems like a ton of fun. AND it’s pirate themed down to the layout. Who can resist a good theme?
Shipwrecked is located in Brooklyn, NY.
Laser Bounce
Laser Bounce is an arcade, bounce house, laser tag arena that we honestly discovered by going to their long island location as adults to play laser tag. They do have a location in Queens now and frequently run specials. With mid-winter break coming up I’m sure they will have extended hours as well!
Laser Bounce is located in Queens, NY.
