10 Things I’m Tired of Hearing as a Mom of Boys

The things we hear as boy moms never cease to amaze me. I used to think that the internet was the land of unsolicited comments. And while it is, have you ever been walking down the street with your two children of the same sex and got these sad looks from strangers? Almost as if you guys are walking around with some type of plague that only appears in the eyes of those who don’t even freakin’ know you. I am slowly but surely coming to terms with the fact that people just love to talk.

I love being a mom. But for some reason people, strangers or not love to act like you were cursed by the gods when you have children that are all the same sex. Yes I am a mom to two little boys. No I am not suffering because of it. And if you could keep your lame, unwanted comments to yourself, our days will both be a little bit brighter. But the things boy moms hear? Oh good grief. Here are 10 things this mom of boys would love for you to keep to yourself.

15 Positive Affirmations for Preschool/Kindgergarten

I think when most people think of affirmations they think of adults. I usually start my day off with positive affirmations for myself, I share affirmations online in my communities and I check out some on social media. I got into the habit of affirming myself daily when a friend started sharing them daily on Facebook.  When RJ started preschool our schedule became very different. Mornings were now a rush most days but I never wanted him to start his day with overwhelm. I began having him repeat affirmations on our walks to school and he still says them to himself now. Positive affirmations for children don’t have to be complicated. You start off with things that are simple enough for them to understand, and then you they can develop them over time. Here are 15 positive affirmations for children that are easy to understand.

10 Free or Inexpensive Summer Activities for Toddlers and Preschoolers

It is finally officially summer in NYC! School just ended on June 26th so I had weeks and weeks to watch sadly as everyone else started their summer without us. People have already gone on week long summer vacations and here we are at only day 2 of our summer. Like everybody, summer is a different dynamic in this house. We go from 1 to 2 children home all day. The boys are too young for summer camp, cabin fever is real and they are usually on their 85th fight by 10am. Meanwhile mama is just trying to enjoy the fact that we finally can go with the flow. But alas these little people have no chill. So how do you find free or inexpensive summer activities for toddlers?

I’ve Become “THAT Parent” – #SeenEnoughTobacco

This post was sponsored by Tobacco Free New York State as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

I’m gonna admit it ya’ll. I’ve become one of THOSE parents. The parent that’s wondering why all these unaccompanied children are crowding the inside and outside of the store. I’m side-eyeing the junior high kids using “bad words”. The parent that is watching and listening to every single thing that other people’s kids are doing. I can’t help it. I’m protective of our children. So more than I’m annoyed about the fact that they’re in the way while my 4 year old is trying to put his little dollar on the counter for his juice and chips. I’m annoyed that while they’re in there minding their business and buying up the whole store they’re exposed to tobacco products at every freakin’ turn. I’ve SEEN ENOUGH TOBACCO!.
