If you don’t know me by now, I love a good snack! And holiday treats are one of my favorite things to make! While there won’t be any baking for the class this year (Zoom Halloween party anyone?), we’re still going to get into cooking up some spooky halloween treats and probably enjoy a Halloween themed family Netflix and chill. Since cupcakes (and frosting) are a favorite around here, I thought I would share these fun and easy to make Halloween sprinkled cupcakes.

Halloween Sprinkled Cupcakes
Equipment
- Muffin Pan
- Cupcake Liners
- Disposable Piping Bag with Medium Star Tip
- Medium Ice Cream Scooper
- Large Bowl
- 4 packages of Wilton 3 oz Halloween Pumpkin Sprinkle mix
- Standing Mixer
Ingredients
Chocolate Cupcake Ingredients
- 1 box Chocolate cake mix
Vanilla Frosting Ingredients
- 3 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
- 6 C powdered sugar
- 5-7 tbsp heavy whipping cream
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3-5 drops black gel food coloring
- 2-4 drops orange gel food coloring
Instructions
Chocolate Cupcake Instructions
- Preheat the oven as per directions on the box.
- Place cupcake liners inside the muffin pan. Set aside.
- Following the directions on the box, add ingredients.
- Mix all ingredients as instructed.
- Fill cupcake liners 2/3 of the way full.
- Put in the oven and bake for 22 minutes.
- Check for doneness. ( Insert a toothpick into the center of a cupcake,it should come out clean.)
- If they are not done, check again every three minutes until they are done.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool.Transfer to a cooling rack and allow to cool completely before frosting.
Vanilla Frosting Instructions
- Using a standing mixer combine the butter, powdered sugar, heavy whipping cream, vanilla, and mix on medium speed until combined and smooth.
- Set aside 1/2 C of frosting in 1 bowl and mix until combined a few drops of the orange gel food coloring.
- Set aside another 1/2 C of frosting in the 2nd bowl and leave this one white.
- Scoop the orange frosting onto one side of the piping bag.
- Scoop the white frosting onto the second side of the piping bag and set aside.
- Beat in the black gel food coloring into the remaining frosting.
Cupcake Decorating Instructions
- Using the black frosting, scoop a small amount into the ice cream scooper and place onto the top of the cupcake and spread slightly into a thick disk.
- Pour the Halloween sprinkles into a deep bowl.
- Dip the top of the cupcake frosting into the sprinkles.
- Using the piping bag, pipe the orange and white frosting onto the top of the sprinkles.
- Enjoy!

Makes 24 cupcakes
Prep time 20 minutes
Bake time 22 minutes
Decorating time 10 minutes
Halloween sprinkle mixture :
4 packages of Wilton 3 oz Halloween Pumpkin Sprinkle mix
Available for purchase at Walmart, or you can make your own “Sprinkle mix” with this fun Amazon Set.
Chocolate Cupcakes Ingredients:

Ingredients as listed on the back of the cake mix box
Muffin pan
cupcake liners
Directions:
