This morning Disney made my day and released a new (new for real) trailer for the upcoming live action version of The Lion King. Of course I had a million and one things to do so I had to wait until this afternoon to watch the trailer but it was definitely worth the wait. The new trailer for The Lion King was ALMOST everything that I hoped it would be. Leave it up to Disney to have me all emotional in less than two minutes. Check out the trailer & my reaction below before you keep reading.
So you see, The Lion King Official Trailer was almost everything I wanted it to be.
It made me nervous, sad, happy, excited and so much more all in less than two minutes. But come on Disney, we couldn’t hear Simba or Nana’s voice? You know that is what EVERYONE is waiting for! I cannot wait to see how Beyonce and Donald Glover’s voices fit in with this new take on the story. I am all here for both of Disney’s upcoming live action releases (check out my Aladdin reaction) and I could care less what everyone thinks about the same movies being remade. I’ll just repeat what I say every live action movie. I think it is amazing that the new generation will grow up with their own memories and their own stories to tell of the classics that we love. This summer is going to be good! If you need me, I promise I’ll be at the movies!
Disney’s “The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau (“The Jungle Book”), journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
THE KING ARRIVES IN 100 DAYS – July 19th 2019
