When the second trailer for Aladdin dropped and we got the first “live” look at the genie, boy was the internet talking!! Everyone had something to say, as usual. In Entertainment Weekly’s first look, everyone was mad that Will Smith wasn’t blue. Then when we finally got to see him blue, the internet was BIG MAD. People complained that the CGI was horrible, that he looked creepy, and that he wouldn’t live up to Robin Williams’ genie.
Today friends, the official trailer dropped for Disney’s Aladdin.
Disney “redeemed” themselves from the sneak peek trailer. I never lost faith in them from the beginning. Aladdin is such an amazing movie, and I had faith Disney would not disappoint. The live-action adaptation is going to OF COURSE be different than the animated version. There are so many things that they have to take into account, especially with cultural sensitivities and making sure that they get a few things right this time around that they may not have had to worry about back in 1992.
All that being said, Disney did not dissappoint. Just like I didn’t feel like they did the first or second time. I cannot wait to head to Agrabah! It’s going to be amazing.
A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, “Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, “Aladdin” is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s “Aladdin.” The film stars Will Smith as the Genie; Mena Massoud as Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Jasmine; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar; Navid Negahban as the Sultan; Nasim Pedrad as Dalia and Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders.
