Is UglyDolls Appropriate for Young Children?

*My family and I were invited to an advance screening of Uglydolls by The Moms Network. While our screening was complimentary, all opinions in this post are my own*

It’s been almost 2 weeks since the boys and I screened UglyDolls but the movie is still crystal clear in my head. I fell in love with UglyDolls from the moment I saw the first trailer. I knew it was going to be good. Then I realized that Janelle Monae was the voice of Mandi, one of the dolls. So I REALLY knew it was going to be good. The cast of UglyDolls is filled with some amazing musical voices, and if you don’t know we LOVE a good musical movie. So when we were invited to an advanced screening of the movie I was IN. After all, I wasn’t going to turn down a chance to witness the movie musical event of the year.

This Halloween Get Ready to Meet the Addams!

The Addams Family Poster

Did you guys know that a new Addams Family movie was coming out? I honestly had no idea until yesterday when I saw it shared in one of the groups that I’m in. I’m interested to learn more about this movie because 1. the Addams Family is a classic! and 2. it’s the first time the show has ever been done in an animated version! When I saw the teaser poster I immediately thought of Coraline and today when I watched the trailer it looks like its going to be a cute movie. The movie releases in October so I honestly can’t wait to learn more about it and get more sneak peeks! 2019 is shaping up to be a pretty good year for movies!

Get ready to snap your fingers! The Addams Family is back on the big screen in the first animated comedy about the kookiest family on the block. Funny, outlandish, and completely iconic, the Addams Family redefines what it means to be a good neighbor.

Is Missing Link Appropriate for Young Children? + Fun Activity Pages

*We attended a free screening of Missing Link in NYC courtesy of United Artists Releasing. All opinions expressed are my own*

I knew from the first trailer that Missing Link was on my movies to see this year. First of all I absolutely love Hugh Jackman (hello Greatest Showman) and Zach Galifianakis is super silly so I already loved the two actors that voiced the two main characters. Then I saw the official trailer and I knew Missing Link was going to be a super cute movie that had tons of lessons in them. But did it turn out to be a good movie for my preschooler? Check out what I thought of the movie after this trailer. And if you’re just here for the activity pages, scroll all the way to the bottom ;).

How long is Missing Link?

The run time for Missing Link is slated at 1 hour and 35 minutes. It was a great length for younger kids, and for an animated movie in general. It didn’t feel like it was dragging (like The Lego Movie 2 did) and I only caught myself checking the time once, towards the end of the movie.

Are there any parts of the movie I should worry about?

So I’m just going to put it out there and say Missing Link is not a movie for younger children. I wasn’t worried about the Sasquatch/Yeti aspect because we absolutely loved Smallfoot and RJ is excited to see Abominable later this year. However, the movie is rated PG and it is definitely geared towards older children. The “bad guy” of the movie is … persistent and there are a couple fight scenes, gun scenes and even rude jokes that I wasn’t prepared for.

I caught RJ covering his eyes at least twice because a few scenes were a little dark. One of the fight scenes even took place in a bar. No one mentioned alcohol but as an adult you’d definitely pick up on it. Also for the entire day after the movie RJ was pretending everything was a gun, he’s never done this before so that just shows you how prominent the scenes were.

My opinion of the movie overall?

Despite everything I enjoyed the movie. There are definitely some lessons to be learned from this movie about family, selflessness and finding your place among those you love. There were moments were I laughed, gasped and definitely reflected. Missing Link is definitely a movie that makes you think and one that makes you feel. Just not the little ones.

Synopsis: This April, meet Mr. Link: 8 feet tall, 630 lbs, and covered in fur, but don’t let his appearance fool you… he is funny, sweet, and adorably literal, making him the world’s most lovable legend at the heart of Missing Link, the globe-trotting family adventure from LAIKA. Tired of living a solitary life in the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Link recruits fearless explorer Sir Lionel Frost to guide him on a journey to find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La. Along with adventurer Adelina Fortnight, our fearless trio of explorers encounter more than their fair share of peril as they travel to the far reaches of the world to help their new friend. Through it all, the three learn that sometimes you can find a family in the places you least expect.

Avengers Endgame: Special Look Trailer Thoughts

Guys!! It’s April and it’s officially what I’m calling Avengers Day! We are so much closer to the premiere of Avengers Endgame and my heart is POUNDING after watching the special look trailer today. I have so many emotions about what Marvel has given us so far (hello Shuri!) and I know they probably aren’t going to give us too much more. I’m going to be traveling and BUSY premiere weekend but I’m hoping I can sneak some time in to check it out before too many spoilers are all over the internet.

This trailer had me in my feelings.

Disneynature Penguins: Getting Your Kids Excited About Earth Day

I’m not gonna lie, the Disneynature movies don’t get the same amount of love that other Disney movies get.  Unless you’re a one year old. If Zayn is excited about any movie coming out, it’s this one. He knows what the trailer sounds like and when he hears the commercial come on Disney Junior he’s running in from another room to catch it. It’s always adorable to see him gasp and point like it’s his first time. Every single time.

My kids are animal lovers. I’m pretty sure RJ has transferred his love of animals to his little brother. We frequent zoos, the aquarium and take all chances to get up close and personal with animals. The majority of their favorite movies involve animal characters and RJ spends a lot of time perfecting his animal sounds. It only makes sense that they’re just as excited about this movie as any other one. I’m also pretty sure that they think it’s going to be something similar to Happy Feet. They still watch that movie on repeat. Continue Reading →

I Refuse to Accept Shuri’s Fate in These Newly Released Posters for Avengers Endgame

Marvel hit us right in the feels the other day when they released a TON of new posters for Avengers Endgame. We waited all this time to learn more about the movie and now they’ve honestly given me more than I am able to handle. When the posters first dropped I was SO hype. I love character posters (that’s why I share them so often). They give you an opportunity to see a little bit of the characters personality before the movie is released.

First Official Full Length Trailer for Toy Story 4

Am I the only one who feels like it takes forever for these movie things to come out? I mean second to Aladdin, Toy Story is the movie that I am the most excited about this year. This is basically my entire childhood. My little brother and I had countless toys (should’ve saved them), and now my boys are in love with Toy Story as well! I was really excited to see this full length trailer come out yesterday morning. I totally waited for RJ to come home from school to film a reaction video for it but in true unpredictable 4 year old fashion he wasn’t feeling it, so no reaction for this trailer. But minus the preschool cuteness, check out the official trailer for Toy Story 4 below and let me know what you think.

So who are these new toys?

GABBY GABBY – an adorable, talking pull-string doll from the 1950s. But unfortunately for her, a manufacturing defect in her pull-string voice box has left her sounding anything but adorable. She has spent more than 60 years forgotten in the depths of a jam-packed antique store—her only companions are a band of voiceless ventriloquist dummies. Gabby Gabby knows someone will want her if only she can find a working voice box to repair hers.

DUKE CABOOM – a 1970s toy based on Canada’s greatest stuntman. Riding his powerful Caboom stunt-cycle, Duke is always prepared to show off his stunt poses with confidence and swagger. However, Woody learns quickly that Duke has an Achilles heel: He has never been able to do the awesome stunts advertised in his own toy commercial. For years, Duke has been sitting in an antique store, constantly reliving the failures of his tragic past.

GIGGLE MCDIMPLES – a miniature plastic doll from the 1980s Giggle McDimples toy line. Giggle is Bo Peep’s best friend. Small enough to perch on Bo’s shoulder, Giggle is Bo’s confidant, supporter and advisor. “Giggle is Bo’s Jiminy Cricket—we’re able to get insight on Bo through their relationship together,” says Cooley. “Giggle is definitely the smallest toy in the Toy Story universe. She’s been stepped on, vacuumed up, and probably put up a kid’s nose in her time.”

BENSON – a classic, antique ventriloquist dummy, and Gabby Gabby’s right hand. He leads a small group of ventriloquist dummies that serve as Gabby’s henchmen. With no person to give them a voice, these silent toys patrol the antique store with a looming quietness that is inherently unsettling.

LEADING THE WAY — In Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4,” Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky, declares himself trash and not a toy, so Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. Featuring Tom Hanks as the voice of Woody, and Tony Hale as the voice of Forky, “Toy Story 4” opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019. ©2019 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

About Toy Story 4:

Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.

Disney·Pixar’s TOY STORY 4 ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019.

We Finally Have an Official Trailer for Avengers: Endgame!!

The Russo brothers have been STINGY ok?! If no one else has said it I will! haha. Up until today we have had very little glimpse of Avengers: Endgame. I mean, we could all speculate what the movie would be about. We already know that Captain Marvel is going to basically save the entire world. But since Thanos snapped his fingers and dusted half the population, we’ve all been left with our mouths hanging open and our eyes wide. I have been WAITING. And this morning, Marvel finally blessed us with the Official Trailer for Avengers: Endgame. Continue Reading →

Is Captain Marvel A Movie All About Feminism? – An Honest Review

I had no idea if I was going to be able to get into a showing of Captain Marvel this weekend. Ya’ll know I’m a procrastinator so I foolishly didn’t purchase any tickets in advance and left my marvel viewing up to fate. Luckily Jesus was on my side and my grandmother is amazing so she watched the babies last night while we went to an 8pm showing.

The controversy around Captain Marvel and Brie Larson was at a HIGH before opening weekend even started. Carol Danvers is the MCU’s first female to have a solo lead. “We” DESERVED. Some people didn’t feel the same. There has been controversy and bad reviews long before the movie hit theaters. Somehow, Captain Marvel got placed under the feminism umbrella, and I honestly don’t feel like it should have.

Captain Marvel isn’t just for women/girls.

Ralph Breaks the Internet Art Class + Giveaway

I was invited to a free art class with a guest hosted by Disney and The Art Studio NY, to celebrate the in-home release of Ralph Breaks the Internet.

Over the weekend I was invited with a group of other bloggers to take a painting class in celebration of Ralph Breaks the Internet being released on Digital and DVD/Blu-ray. When I received the invitation I was excited. I’ve done paint and sips before and it’s a super fun experience. Date night it is!

The Art Studio NY is not your typical paint and sip y’all. It is a LEGIT art studio. They offer all kind of lessons, and not going to lie, I felt a little intimidated once I realized what was about to go down. I arrived and sat down in front of a BLANK CANVAS. *insert all kinds of panic*
