**Our family was hosted guests since the reopening of the Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark. Our room, some meals and some activities were provided for free. All opinions and advice offered in this review are our own**
The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark closed it’s doors like many businesses in the beginning of 2020 after barely getting a chance to be open. Our family had a chance to visit in December of 2019 to have a late 5th birthday celebration for our oldest and we immediately fell in love with New York’s largest indoor Waterpark. Once business started to finally reopen this year in New York, The Kartrite felt like one of the last to finally reopen it’s doors. And now that it is reopen, what’s the experience like? Is dining the same? Are the activities running? Here’s our family’s review of the Kartrite Resort since reopening. Use this as your “ultimate guide”
Health and Safety Measures at the Resort
One of the most important things that people are looking for when traveling now are the health and safety measures being taken to protect guests and employees. At the resort, capacity is limited but at times the water park still felt slightly crowded (though this could 100% be due to the shock of not being in crowds at all for more than a year). Any guest or employee that is to fully vaccinated (as per federal regulations) is required to wear a face mask at all times except in their rooms, when dining, and on rides inside the water park.
There are plenty of sanitizing stations throughout the park and high touch areas (like arcade games inside Playopolis) were sanitized frequently. Like most resorts/hotels housekeeping is suspended during your stay but the rooms are thoroughly cleaned between departure and the next arrival. You can check out the resorts 8-Point High-Touch Protocol to see how the rooms are being cleaned.
Which Amenities Are Available and What is Closed?
**As of 7/27/2021**
Unfortunately, not everything at the resort has reopened. While the amenities at the resort are still vast there were a few things that we missed. One of the resorts restaurants Bixby’s Derby has not reopened and there is not a listed reopening date. This still left us with 4 dining options, however Eat. Eat. Eat had limited buffet options and nothing that the boys would eat the night that we went. The resort’s spa “Chill Spa” has also permanently closed but the gym remains opened with some equipment removed. Playopolis, Woodstock Playground and all indoor/outdoor activities for kids were still up and running socially distanced and with limited capacity.
